Hello listmembers,
I have been going through a few maps, trying to locate two places:
BO(T)ZEN and V(W)AGETZKO; Unsuccessfully!
The spelling may be wrong but I have no possibility to find out what the real names of those places can be. They were transcribed by a clerk on a marriage certificate in France in 1804.
They are probably located in the north east of Poland (Königsberg). I know that is not much!
Thank you for your help.

I can see an inquiry made 2 years ago (Fri, 22 Jul 2005 09:03:57 EDT)

I found nothing on the web ref. those two placenames. Trouble is, since 1804 place-names have changed, more than once and sometimes changed completely, without reference to the previous name.
We will have a 300K scan from approx 1830, from Bialystok area, you can have a go there, or try to locate other sheets of this map.
p.s I would ask your questions about Polish legions in a newsgroup (pl.soc.genealogia), you can write in English there.
Hello Naltar, I am the one who posted the inquiry you mention, 2 years ago. I haven't gone far since then. In fact although I know finding those two place names is a lost cause, I can't help trying.
Besides your maps are easy to read and clear and you keep enriching the site, so maybe, one day...
Anyway, thank you for your answer and your suggestion. Ricurima
