My grandfather Jozef Gwizdowski, born 1880 in Gwizdow, Galicia. This was the Austrian province, now in Poland.
I have found, perhaps 6 towns/villages with the name of Gwizdow, but I believe the Gwizdow found on map P48_S35 is the only area that was within the Austrian district, up to 1919.
I can see your question in http://www.polishroots.com/surnames, I can only confirm that Gwizdow in "woj. Lubelskie" (current: Lubelskie province / voivodship) – was _not_ in Galizia, but in “zabor rosyjski”.
